Psalms and Hymns
I'd like to share a scripture today from Ephesians Chapter 5 verse 19 & 20.....so appropriate upon listening to Bob Hartman share His heart for the Lord, God's people, and the gift of music.
"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
When I think on this scripture I am reminded that throughout God's Word, God is wise and faithful to give His people guidance AND freedom in expressing encouragement to one another and in worshiping Him.
I want to encourage us all today to remember and appreciate the wide variety of ways the body of Christ can worship the Lord in song and encourage one another through music and the lyric it speaks to our hearts.
For some people, like me, it is difficult to sing old hymns... but... for others current songs don't appeal to them. We all have a song to sing to the Lord....those songs that rise up from our hearts that we hum or sing to worship the Lord.
However, I...like you... have to remember that when we come together as the body of Christ on a Sunday morning, our corporate song, regardless of our own style preference, is still one of praise... and thankfulness... to the One and only God who we ALL worship.
Each one of us must be willing to lay our worship style preferences down at His feet and let our voices rise up to the One who is worthy of all praises!
This is John Schlitt encouraging you to "LIVE IT LOUD!"
